Terms of Service — Mylid
Last updated: 11 October 2026
1. About us
These terms govern your use of the Mylid website (mylid.co.uk) and the web apps Lid (mylid.app), Transparency (transparency.mylid.app), Sky Contours (sky.mylid.app) and Frost (frost.mylid.app), together “the Service”. The Service is operated by Mylid, a trading name of Mark Mcletchie. For questions, contact hello@mylid.co.uk.
2. What the Service is
Mylid provides forecasts for cloud inversions, air clarity, moonlight conditions and frost, intended for hill walkers, photographers, stargazers and similar users. The Service is free to use. Forecasts use data from third-party sources, such as weather models, which we do not control. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the Service at any time.
3. Forecasts are not guarantees
Forecasts are predictions based on available data. They can be delayed, incomplete or wrong. The air and sky can change faster than any forecast expects.
Never rely on the Service as your only source for safety decisions. For mountain weather, always check the official mountain weather forecast (for example, the Met Office Mountain Weather forecast) before setting off. For severe conditions, follow official warnings and local guidance.
4. Your responsibility
The Service is an aid to planning, not a substitute for your own judgement, preparation and experience. You are responsible for decisions you make about where, when and whether to go out, and you use the Service at your own risk, subject to section 6 and your legal rights.
5. No warranty
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or accurate.
6. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
- any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the law.
Subject to that, and to the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Service or any forecast, including loss of or damage to property and indirect or consequential loss.
If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service, including by attempting to disrupt it, reverse-engineer it, or use it for any unlawful purpose. You also agree not to scrape, copy, resell or redistribute the Service’s forecasts, data, design or code without our written permission.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, including its name, logos, branding, design, layout, text, images, forecasts, data compilations and code, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trade mark and other intellectual property rights to the fullest extent permitted by law. “Mylid”, “Lid”, “Transparency”, “Sky Contours” and “Frost” are names used by us in connection with the Service, and you must not use them, or confusingly similar names, in a way that suggests a connection with or endorsement by us.
You may use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. Unless we have given you written permission, you must not copy, reproduce, adapt, redistribute or create derivative works from the Service’s design, content, code or branding, or build a competing product or website that imitates its look, feel or structure.
Third-party data remains the property of its respective owners and is subject to their terms. To ask about permission to use anything from the Service, email hello@mylid.co.uk.
9. Privacy
How we collect and use personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy.
10. Changes
We may update the Service or these terms from time to time. We will post updated terms on this page and change the “last updated” date above. If you keep using the Service after changes take effect, you accept the updated terms. If a change is significant, we will make reasonable efforts to highlight it.
11. General
If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest will continue to apply. If we do not enforce a right straight away, that does not mean we have waived it.
12. Governing law
These terms, and any dispute arising from them, are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your home nation, and you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections of the law there.
